I absolutely fell in love with running 11 years ago! I can remember thinking, "I just want to be healthier, more fit, in better shape." I had been running for about 6 months when some friends talked me into doing my first 5K, when I crossed the finish line, I WAS HOOKED! I felt like a Rock Star! I had heard about the "Runners High," let me tell you it's real. Now 11 years later, I've ran 65 half marathons, 12 marathons, and hundreds of 5K's and 10K's. Running has brought so many opportunities into my life, so many wonderful people, it's more than a hobby to me these days, it's part of my everyday life.
One of my most enjoyable things about running is how all runner's give back to the running community. For me, it's pacing races. I love pacing the 2:00 Half Marathon Groups. It's a comfortable pace for me and this is always a big group, it seems like a lot of first timers are trying to break the 2:00 mark. I love talking to the runners and telling them my stories, how I got started, how many races I have completed, and all the cities I have run in which includes New York, Chicago, Orlando (Dopey Challenge), Nashville, and New Orleans. But, my heart's in Alabama, born and bread, and will never leave my home state. However, I am looking forward to adding some new races and cities to my resume in the Fall of 2018. I see you Vegas!
Running has given so much to me, I find myself just trying to give back a small portion wherever possible. I'm currently serving as the President of the Birmingham Track Club (BTC). What a great organization who tirelessly serves the Greater Birmingham area of runners, over 1,300 members! Running has changed my life for the better in every way possible, all for the better, mostly because of the wonderful people I see and run with everyday. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to be an Armpocket Ambassador. For me, it's a natural fit, and I LOVE their products! I can't wait to get my next one!
