ARMPOCKET STANDS WITH PATAGONIA AND BEARS EARS NATIONAL MONUMENT

Feb 8, '17

MIAMI, FLORIDA - Wednesday, February 8, 2017 – Armpocket Enterprises, in its continued effort to protect the environment and stand for what is just, has decided to stand with Patagonia as they withdraw from Outdoor Retailer in response to Utah’s decision to rescind Bears Ears Protection. The resolution signed by Gov. Gary Herbert makes it clear that Utah elected officials do not support public land conservation or the economic benefits it brings. As a company that produces products for and supports the outdoor community, we support Patagonia and hope this will inspire other companies and individuals to push back against the possibility of Bears Ears losing its protections as a National Monument.

Bears Ears became America’s newest national monument on January 5th, 2017 by President Barack Obama. This protection has been 110 years in the making. Tribes banded together to ask the President to declare Bears Ears as a national monument and to give them a say in the landscape management.

The new monument celebrates Native American relationships to the land and preserves indigenous traditional access while remaining open for all Americans. The proclamation was a great step forward in the preservation of native lands.

But there are some Utah politicians, specifically Utah Gov. Gary Herbert, who want to see Bears Ears National Monument undone. Please take a moment to tell your Senator that you support Bears Ears National Monument and want to see it protected forever!
