Yes, you can still get your run in, even during these uncertain times. And getting outside in the fresh air is so good for you! But we’re also all spending more time at home than we did before, and we thought that we could fill our run-loving hearts with some favorite running movies.

Chariots of Fire

Aside even from the content of the movie, you’re already hearing the score play in your head. It is one of the most recognizable and still played at events to this day. This classic tells the story of British runners during the 1924 Olympics in Paris.

Spirit of the Marathon

“When you cross the finish line, no matter how slow or fast, it will change your life forever.” ~Dick Beardsley. Looking for a movie about running a marathon? This documentary follows six runners as they trained for and ran the Chicago Marathon in 2005. It was filmed on four different continents, showing the inspirational journeys of all six athletes.

Forrest Gump

Okay, maybe it’s a stretch for a running movie, but how many of you have repeated the line, “Run, Forrest, run”? It has running in it and it makes you feel good, and therefore, it made our list.

Based on the non-fiction book by Laura Hillenbrand, we learn the tale of former Olympian Louis “Louie” Zamperini. After having trained to be a runner and qualifying for the 1936 Berlin Olympics, he went on to serve as a lieutenant in the Air Force during World War II.
