7 MUST-HAVES FOR A DAY OF BIKING

Sep 25, '17

It's fall and that means bike season! Before you hit the trails or streets with your bike, you need to make sure you have the right gear. We sat down and put our heads together to come up with a shopping list for your next biking adventure.

Enjoy!

7 Must-Haves For A Day Of Biking

BIKE HELMET

Not every day is a perfect day and sometimes you need a little protection. Keeping your head safe on a bike is not only important but the law for youth riders in many states and the District of Columbia.

WATER BOTTLE

If you have learned anything from reading our blog posts, its: hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! You may not be crossing the Sahara, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t bring some water. A healthy body is a hydrated body.

COMFORTABLE SHOES

Do you need specific bike shoes, no. But I do recommend at least a nice pair of sneakers. While I am notorious for always wearing flip-flops, they are not the best footwear for a bike. Sneakers give you the comfort, cushion, and security you need for your adventure.

MEDICAL ID

Just remember ICE (In Case of Emergency). Whether you use an ID bracelet or a special feature on your phone, you want to make sure that if something happens to you, others are able to give you the help you need. Be sure to make available: an emergency contact, medications, allergies, and other pertinent medical information.

BIKE LOCK

Sometimes you’re just going for a quick ride, and sometimes you are making a weekend of it. No matter which adventure you’re on, be sure you bring a way to secure your bike when you need (or want) to stop.

BIKE LIGHTS

Make yourself more visible! Bike lights aren’t just for nighttime riders. Have a solid or flashing light to let others see you easier and avoid accidents. You can also clip a light or two directly to your Armpocket and increase your visibility even more.

ARMPOCKET

Of course, like all other situations, you can’t leave the house without your Armpocket. You can bring along your phone, house key, headphones, ID, credit cards, cash, and maybe even a snack. An Armpocket also lets you easily listen to your music, get directions, or even make a phone call while being hands-free. Just attach it to your handlebars and be on your way!

Do you have any questions about how to attach your Armpocket to your bike? Send them to us or post them on social media and we will be glad to help.
